We spend a lot of our time expecting things. We expect things from our jobs, our relationships, friends and God. We think that things done with the right intentions will last forever.
Then, along comes a storm.
Sometimes the storm hits us by surprise, it just appears out of nowhere. We weren’t expecting it and it throws us completely off balance. If we are lucky though, we can catch onto a warning sign. Maybe a light drizzle or the appearance of clouds. Something gives us an indication that a storm is coming.
Having a relationship with our Lord is like having an accurate weather man. The difference is that God is always right, because He not only tells of the coming storm, but He even allows it. He knows the storm is something we need, though we rarely want.
When you know Jesus, you know that bad things happen, for our benefit, and for His glory. You know that He’s the author and finisher of our faith. It is through the storm that we learn to trust in Him and lean on his sovereign plan.
The promise is not that storms won’t come, it’s that Jesus is in the boat with you, and as He sees fit, He will calm the winds and the waves.
Bless the Lord in times of trial and storm.
